Welcome to Socio-Political Opinions.

Social Issues are concepts that many wrestle with on a daily basis, either theoretically, or in the reality of life. Some of these issues have existed for centuries, in many cultures. Some are more recent, and or more confined to specific populations.

Philosophers, Social Scientists, Social Policy-makers, Politicians, Activists, and ordinary people wrestle with the causes, effects and possible solutions of these issues. Some are more controversial and emotive than others. Some have had “solutions” in place for many years, but these solutions have not rendered them non-issues. Some have various optional solutions of varying effectiveness, and with personal variations.

You will (eventually) find posts on a variety of topics, selected seemingly at random from “current” news and events, and analysed from a perspective strongly influenced by Sociological and Psychological theories. These theories may or may not be apparent, but what will often be obvious is a belief in the intrinsic value of people (even when I disagree with them) and an awareness that people are individuals functioning within social influence and social responsibility. As John Donne put it so eloquently, many years ago: “No man is an Island”.
